PROCLAMATION NO. 1059

DECLARING THE FIRST WEEK OF OCTOBER OF EVERY YEAR AS “LIFE INSURANCE CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK”

WHEREAS, life insurance provides Filipino families with services and benefits for financial protection in times of need and peace of mind when the families’ income earners pass away or become incapacitated;

WHEREAS, the life insurance industry is a major contributor to the social and economic development of our country, particularly in our government’s thrust to generate meaningful long-term savings;

WHEREAS, despite these services, benefits and contributions to our country’s social and economic well-being that life insurance provides, the majority of our population continue to be without life insurance coverage;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the First Week of October of every year as “Life Insurance Consciousness Week”.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the SEAL of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
