PROCLAMATION NO. 1244

DECLARING JUNE 23, 1998 AS THE PRESIDENTIAL SECURITY

GROUP CENTENNIAL YEAR

WHEREAS, on June 23, 1898, President Emilio Aguinaldo established the EL CUERPO DE LA GUARDIA PRESIDENCIAL with Major Geronimo Gatmaitan as its Commanding Officer;

WHEREAS, the EL CUERPO DE LA GUARDIA PRESIDENCIAL was charged to ensure the safety of the First President of the Republic, which rose to become the Presidential Security Group;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare June 23, 1998 as the Presidential Security Group Centennial Year.

The PRESIDENTIAL SECURITY GROUP is hereby directed to undertake befitting activities relative to this centennial anniversary including the acknowledgment of all men and women who have performed presidential protective duties by providing utmost protection to the President of the Republic of the Philippines and the First Family.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
