ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 56
CREATING A NATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR THE PHILIPPINE OBSERVANCE OF THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNITED NATIONS ON 24 OCTOBER 1995
WHEREAS, the United Nations will celebrate its fiftieth anniversary on 24 October 1995; and
WHEREAS, the United Nations has urged member-states to establish national committees which shall prepare fitting activities for this anniversary in coordination with the United Nations Secretariat.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:
Section 1. There is hereby created a National Committee for the Philippine Observance of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the United Nations on 24 October 1995 (“Committee”) which shall be composed of the following:

Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines | — | Member |
Chairman, National Commission on Culture and Arts | — | Member |
President, Cultural Center of the Philippines | — | Member |
President, United Nations Association of the Philippines | — | Member |
The Chairman and members shall designate their respective representatives in the event that they cannot attend the meetings of the Committee.
Section 2. The Committee shall prepare the national programme for the celebration of this event in coordination with the United Nations Secretariat.
The Committee is hereby authorized to call upon any government agency including government-owned and/or controlled corporations for assistance in the performance of its functions. It may likewise solicit the assistance and cooperation of private individuals or organizations involved in the various activities of the United Nations.
Section 3. A Secretariat is hereby created at the Office of United Nations and Other International Organizations (UNIO), Department of Foreign Affairs, to be headed by the Assistant Secretary for UNIO. The Secretariat shall provide administrative and technical support for the meetings of the Committee and its sub-committees.
Section 4. All funds necessary for the operation of the Committee and its Secretariat shall be charged against the appropriations of the Department of Foreign Affairs, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
Section 5. This Administrative Order shall take effect immediately.
