DECLARING 1997 AS THE NURSES DIAMOND JUBILEE YEAR

WHEREAS

, the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), also known as Pambansang Samahan ng mga Narses ng Pilipinas, Inc. was founded in 1922;

WHEREAS

, the PNA is the accredited professional organization of nurses by the Professional Regulation Commission and recognized by the International Council of Nurses;

WHEREAS

, the PNA is a unified national association with 87 local chapters and 302,000 members, all committed to the ideals of providing excellent health service to the Filipino people;

WHEREAS

, through the years, the PNA has faithfully served its goals of maintaining the highest level of professional standard, protecting the welfare of nurses and establishing linkages with national and international agencies in the pursuit of attaining universal health goals;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS

, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 1997 as “NURSES DIAMOND JUBILEE YEAR”. The Philippine Nurses Association is hereby directed to undertake such activities befitting the observance of this milestone in Philippine nursing-care history.
