PROCLAMATION NO. 143

DECLARING A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN THE PROVINCE OF BASILAN

I,

FIDEL V. RAMOS

, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare, upon the recommendation of the Chairman, National Disaster Coordinating Council, a state of public calamity in the Province of Basilan which has been adversely affected by continued military operations against rebels belonging to the Moro National Liberation Front. I also hereby authorize the release from the calamity fund of One Million Pesos (P1,000,000.00) for the said province to support the on-going relief efforts undertaken by the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council to assist the families who have been displaced by the continuing military operations.
