PROCLAMATION NO. 142


DECLARING FEBRUARY 25, 1993 AS A SPECIAL NON-WORKING HOLIDAY


WHEREAS

, the February 22-25, 1986 EDSA Revolution restored democratic institution and ushered in meaningful political, social and economic reforms;


WHEREAS

, the triumph of this Revolution was anchored upon People Power, the spontaneous demonstration of the citizens solidarity in seeking to transform Philippine society and chart a new course for their nation by linking arms and courageously asserting their democratic right;


WHEREAS

, February 25 is an opportune occasion for the Filipino people to reflect and celebrate this historic day;


WHEREAS

, to celebrate this finest moment in our contemporary history as a nation and to enable every Filipino to participate in the commemorative celebrations, it is necessary to declare February 25, 1993 as a special non-working holiday;


NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS

, President of the Philippines, by virtue of powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Thursday, 25 February 1993, as a special non-working holiday nationwide.
