DECLARING MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1996, A SPECIAL DAY IN THE AUTONOMOUS REGION OF MUSLIM MINDANAO (ARMM) ON THE OCCASION OF THE LOCAL ELECTIONS

WHEREAS,

Monday, September 9, 1996, was set as the local elections in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM); and

WHEREAS,

there is a need to declare September 9, 1996, a special day in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao to give the constituents in the area full opportunity to participate in the election;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS,

President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, and pursuant to the provisions of Executive Order No. 203, dated June 30, 1987, do hereby declare Monday, September 9, 1996, as a special day in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao on the occasion of the Local Elections.

The various local government units in the ARMM, through their respective Chief Local Executives, are directed to extend all possible assistance and support to ensure the clean and smooth conduct of the local elections.
