PROCLAMATION NO. 214
DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF CALAMITY IN THE COASTAL AREAS OF BATAAN, PAMPANGA, BULACAN, METRO MANILA AND CAVITE
WHEREAS
, the Secretary of National Defense as Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council recommends the existence of a state of calamity in the coastal areas of Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, and Cavite due to the recurrence of Red Tide and infestation in Manila Bay;
WHEREAS
, the latest laboratory analysis performed by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on water and shellfish samples from Manila Bay showed that the area is now heavily contaminated with the toxic red tide organisms, particularly the coastal waters of Eastern Bataan.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS
, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the existence of a state of calamity in the coastal areas of Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila and Cavite.
