PROCLAMATION NO. 620


DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF CALAMITY IN THE NATIONAL MUSEUM/SENATE BUILDING AREA, MANILA


WHEREAS

, the National Museum located at the Senate Building in Manila was gutted by fire causing damage to properties including national treasures housed therein;


WHEREAS

, there is a need for the declaration of a state of calamity in the area to be able to utilize the Calamity Funds for emergency needs, service restoration, comprehensive fire safety inspection and other remedial measures urgently needed therein;


NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS

, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare a state of calamity in the National Museum/Senate Building area.

The release of an initial amount of Five Million (P5,000,000.00) Pesos to be drawn from the Calamity Fund is hereby authorized.
