PROCLAMATION NO. 181

DECLARING THE PERIOD AUGUST 6 TO AUGUST 12 OF EVERY YEAR AS “NATIONAL HOSPITAL WEEK”

WHEREAS

, it is recognized that hospitals have an important role in promoting, safeguarding and preserving the health of the people;

WHEREAS

, the late Dr. Sixto Y. Orosa pioneered in the organization of what evolved as the present-day hospital system;

WHEREAS

, it was Dr. Sixto Y. Orosa who drafted Act No. 3168 of the Philippine Legislature, establishing provincial hospitals throughout the country and which subsequently developed into a national hospital system; and

WHEREAS

, it is but a fitting tribute to coincide the commencement of the “National Hospital Week” with the birth anniversary of Dr. Sixto Y. Orosa on August 6.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS,

President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period August 6 to 12 of every year as “National Hospital Week.”

This supersedes Proclamation No. 308, series of 1952, declaring the period May 6 to 12 of every year as National Hospital Week.
