DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM 23 – 28 MAY 1994 AS THE NATIONAL SOCIAL SCIENCE AND MEDICINE WEEK
WHEREAS, The Asia and Pacific Second Social Science and Medicine (APSSAM) Conference will be held in Manila on 23-27 May 1994, with the objective of bringing together social scientists and health professionals to focus on the theme “Meeting the Health Challenges on the 21st Century: Partnership in Social Science and Health Science;”
WHEREAS, the international and local social scientists and health professionals involved in health research and development programs in government and non-government organizations and in the academe should now get together and focus on building and sustaining the institutions for health social science promotion and development, as well as on forging links between the two to apply social science in health care;
WHEREAS, there is a need to provide a forum for social scientists and health professionals to discuss issues of international and local concern and to focus public attention on the significant role that social science plays in health research, development, and policy formulation;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from May 23 to 28, 1994, as the National Social Science and Medicine Week.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
