PROCLAMATION NO. 241

DECLARING THE THIRD WEEK OF SEPTEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS “LINGGO NG KASUOTANG PILIPINO”

WHEREAS

, there is a need to project the unique Filipino identity and to create a sense of pride in being a Filipino; and

WHEREAS

, it is necessary to show the importance of the Filipino attire in order to give due recognition to Filipino heritage and culture;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS

, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the 3rd week of September of every year as “Linggo ng Kasuotang Pilipino.”

The Department of Tourism shall be the lead agency in the implementation of this Proclamation. It shall, accordingly, coordinate with the appropriate departments and government agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations, for the successful implementation of this Proclamation.
